ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES
The programmes of the Institution are tailored in line with the provisions of section 6 subsections 49 of the National Policy on Education which emphasizes technical manpower training relevant to the Nation.In addition, the Polytechnic offers courses leading to the Awards of the National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics, Accountancy and Business Administration.
CATEGORIES OF ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES
The Polytechnic runs academic programmes leading to the award of the National Diploma (ND) subject to the conditions and objectives as laid down by the National Board for Technical Education.Certificate Programmes
The certificate programmes are designed to provide course of instruction to candidates who wish to upgrade their knowledge but could not meet the entry requirements for the ND programmes or who though meeting the requirements, but for reasons of time and other personal consideration cannot pursue a full-time course running into four semestersShort term programmes
The institution encourages the development of skills through the mounting of short-term courses, workshops, seminars and other forms of continuous learning techniques for candidates who so desire the training.CERTIFICATE COURSE (9 MONTHS) IN;

2016/2017 ADMISSION EXERCISE IS ONGOING
(i) The Admission Process for 2016/2017 is ongoing.An application form is to be obtained from the college website for a fee of N5,000(five thousand naira only) and completed forms are submitted on the college portal.(ii) The admission of a candidate into a programme is the prerogative of the Academic Board of the Institution.

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
PRE - NATIONAL DIPLOMAL AND CERTIFICATE PROGRAMMES (1 YEAR)
(i) An application form is to be obtained from the institution or website for a fee and completed forms are returned to the institution or submitted on the site.(ii) The admission of a candidate into a programme is the prerogative of the Academic Board of the Institution.
Qualification: 3 credits in core subjects of courses to be applied for including English Language or Mathematics.
NATIONAL DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES (2 YEAR)
The Polytechnic Igbo-Owu subscribes to admission procedures as endorsed by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and as listed in the JAMB application form and fill in The Polytechnic Igbo-Owu as his/ her choice of institution. Joint Admissions & Matriculation Board (JAMB) will offer successful candidates admission. All candidates will undergo post JAMB test to be conducted by the Polytechnic in both written and oral forms.Qualification: 5 Credits in relevant course of study including English language & Mathematics with UTME result as laid down by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
6 MONTHS PRELIMINARY/REMEDIAL STUDIES
Qualification: 3 credits and above, opportunity to re-write WAEC, NECO, Nabteb and Cambridge O’ & A levels available.BENEFITS: Graduates are guaranteed to be self-reliant in the face of economic hardship and to proceed for further studies in any tertiary institution of their choice including The Polytechnic Igbo-Owu. Hostel Accommodation Available on request.
